Finally!

For those of you curious in the French visa process, here's a brief but pretty accurate description:

Parlez-vous français?

No? Yeah, me either!  We're going on month 4 of attempting to teach ourselves French...  Let's just say even after the teacher in me came out and took over our house....

...our skills are still very minimal.  The debated pronunciation of "bag" is nothing compared to the pronunciation of French words.  Nothing sounds like it looks and just when you think you've got it figured out, you realize when people speak fluent French they leave off about 2 more sounds per word than you've been practicing with CDs.

People say immersion is the best way to learn...let's hope so cuz it's sink or swim in T-minus 6 weeks!!!

It's getting real!

Today I took my first load of stuff home from school...it was sadder than I expected it to be! I guess this is really happening...

Bonjour, Where's My Bag Y'all?

Bonjour!  Where's My Bag Y'all?  Thanks to my awesome friends, I have realized I will soon have 3 accents (WI peeps...we apparently say bag wrong there, so look out if you leave the Midwest!).  That's right, it's official!  We're moving to Paris, France!!  As many of you know, we are moving to Paris for Nick's job.  Since I most likely won't be working there, I decided I might need something to keep myself busy...hence, the blog.  I hope it keeps all of our family and friends stateside informed of our activities, but I also want it to be something we look back at later to remember this awesome opportunity.

This is my first attempt at blogging ever....I'd like to think I'm pretty tech-saavy, but this whole blogging thing has really thrown me for a loop.  There's so many different things to play with on the blog, half of which I don't know what they do!  I'm sure the appearance of this blog will change several times before I am finally satisfied with it.

Now, you may be wondering about the blog name...I'm just going to preface it with, picking a blog name is HARD!!  So, Paris is known as the "City of Light" and since we're moving there, now it will be the city of "GULDAN" light...ahaha.  Corny, I know, but when you consider the alternative was "Guldans Go to Gay Paris" (literally "Guldans Go to Happy Paris" in French), you will see why the first choice was preferrable! :)
