Friendsgiving!

We may be in France, but we couldn't let Thanksgiving go by without celebrating! Our friends, Lindsey and Justin, hosted a lovely Friendsgiving this past weekend full of laughter, friends, and of course, delicious food!

Nick spent actual Thanksgiving day working, and I spent it admiring Christmas decorations, so we could hardly wait for Saturday to come. Justin, a chef, made all the turkeys, and a few sides, while everyone else brought sides, appetizers, desserts, and wine. All the food was so delicious, and I think everyone thoroughly stuffed themselves. Appetizers included cheese {we are in France after all}, stuffed mushrooms, bacon wrapped dates. Sides were plentiful: green beans, squash, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, cornbread, stuffing, etc. And for deserts: 2 pumpkin pies (1 French twist with speculoos crust), 2 pecan pies (1 with maple syrup! Can you guess a Canadian brought that one?), and Grandma Wolf's cranberry pudding with butter sauce. Mmm...I'm getting hungry just thinking about it again!

Even with 20+ people there, there was no shortage of food! We had a mix of Americans, Canadians, and a few French. Canada celebrates their Thanksgiving in October, so it was an especially long wait for these friends.
Just missing Allison, Greg, & Annabelle here!

I had seen a friend of mine post on Facebook a mini photo booth for their Friendsgiving, and I thought it was a great idea. So, I made a sign {after tracking down a $2+ piece of poster board {I so miss craft stores!}, and it seemed like everyone enjoyed it. Some people took it seriously, and some had a bit more fun, as you can see. There was a pretty common theme among couples, but Nick, of course, had to make ours a little funny. Good one, Nick! :) Special thanks to Lindsey for setting up her camera and using her photography skills to get everything just right!

So very thankful for all these ladies in Paris!
It's always hard being away from family around the holidays, but I am so thankful we have such wonderful friends here that help ease the homesickness a little. We have a lot to be thankful for this year--each other, good health, all the incredible experiences we've had this year, good jobs, and last, but not least, family and friends near and far. We miss you all, and hope to see most of you at Christmas!
