French Open

Well, our visitors have left and it's a stormy day in Paris...time to start updating the blog.  We've done a lot in the last 3 weeks, so make sure you check out all of our photos!

Our first visitors this month were our good friends, Troy & Melissa, that we met in living in Houston.

Their welcome to Paris wasn't the best, as Troy got his wallet pick-pocketed at the train station they arrived at in Paris.  I had met them there, so can we say fail on my part?  Luckily, all's well that ends well, and he realized in right away, so with the help of a French lady, the KID that took it brought it back with everything still in it!

We spent lots of time exploring the sights of Paris, and eating some delicious food (both at restaurants and at a picnic) and miraculously the weather was warm and somewhat sunny!

But, the highlight of our time with them, was probably the French Open.  On Saturday we all had general admission tickets, which meant we could see any of the matches being played on the outer courts that we wanted to.  We ended up watching men's doubles--the Bryan brothers from the U.S., who ended up winning the entire French Open a week later!  It was awesome just to be a part of the atmosphere and walk around with the hope of catching a glimpse of someone famous. :)

We also got to see lots of people practicing on side courts, including some big names like Tsonga and Jankovic.

On Monday, Nick & Troy had tickets to the main court to watch some of the big names play.  Melissa and I took a cooking class instead (more on that later).  Even though their favorite, Federer, didn't play that day, they still got to see lots of good tennis, including Djokovic, Nadal, and Sharapova.
Nadal won on his birthday, so they brought
him out a cake the entire stadium
sang to him in French!

We loved the experience of the French Open (more pictures here), and I can't wait to go again next year!  Again, feeling so blessed that we have the opportunity to do these awesome things!  Nick's now checked one tennis major off the list...maybe Wimbledon is next?
