One Last German Getaway

A few weekends ago {I've not been very good at updated the blog quickly!} we took a last minute trip to Germany. Nick had to do some work in a small town in northern Germany, and when we saw how cheap train tickets were, we decided I should tag along for the few days. Although it was cold {in fact the coldest days of the year!}, it was a perfect little weekend getaway, and probably our last to Germany for a while!

Hiking the Dolomites

We just returned from a long weekend trip, which has climbed to the top five of both of our lists for favorite trips to date. And yet, there's a part of me that doesn't want to rave too much about this trip. Why, you might ask? Well, aside for the stunning beauty which will be apparent below, this area is relatively undiscovered by the English-speaking world, and I kind of want to keep it that way. Although the Dolomites are in Italy, it feels more like Austria or Germany, and the area still retains a traditional feel, where German is the preferred language, and the dress and music is still traditional, and not for the sake of tourists.

Praha: Pretty Architecture, Beer, and Smoke

Prague (Praha in Czech) has been on my must-see list for a while now,

so this past holiday weekend we finally got to check it out!

Austria: Salzburg & Vienna (with lots of rain)

This past weekend we took a weekend trip to Austria to meet up with my parents who had been on a bike trip through Eastern Europe.  Even though our weekend was filled with rain and clouds, they were both beautiful cities!

Belgium: Chocolate, Beer, and More Canals

We boarded the train Wednesday night for Brussels, and thanks to Kim's Raddison points, we were treated to a suite at the Raddison Blu.  After our hotel experience in Amsterdam, we were in heaven!
