Hiking the Dolomites

We just returned from a long weekend trip, which has climbed to the top five of both of our lists for favorite trips to date. And yet, there's a part of me that doesn't want to rave too much about this trip. Why, you might ask? Well, aside for the stunning beauty which will be apparent below, this area is relatively undiscovered by the English-speaking world, and I kind of want to keep it that way. Although the Dolomites are in Italy, it feels more like Austria or Germany, and the area still retains a traditional feel, where German is the preferred language, and the dress and music is still traditional, and not for the sake of tourists.

French Riviera: Relaxation and the Grand Prix!

Another weekend, another holiday.  We have it pretty rough here in France! ;)  It's been a while since we've done a trip within France, so we decided to check out the acclaimed "French Riviera".  We had heard mixed reviews, so we weren't entirely sure what to expect, but all in all it was a wonderfully relaxing weekend!

Israel, Israel, Israel!

Last weekend we took maybe one of our favorite trips to date, and definitely our most secret!  We didn't want to worry anyone by telling them we were going to Israel, and after having it canceled on our cruise, we didn't want to jinx anything.

Looking back, it was probably a good thing it was canceled on our cruise because we wouldn't have been able to enjoy as much of Israel as we were able to this time.  We were pleasantly surprised by quite a few things: how nice all the people were, pretty much everyone speaks passable English, the range in landscape and climate is amazing for such a small country, and the security we felt the whole time we were there.  And while I'm sure the citizens of Israel are aware of the threat of Syria and fighting on a daily basis, they are definitely not living in fear, which is a bit how the media portrays it, I think!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun: In Marseille

Last week, I took a little girls trip to Marseille with my friends Val and Lillian.  Although the weather was not quite as ideal as we had hoped, we still saw some sunshine and a great time laughing and relaxing.

Barcelona: Perfect Fall Getaway

This past weekend was a 3-day holiday weekend, so we decided to head to Barcelona with another couple.  We could not have asked for a better weekend...the weather was sunny and warm (very different from what we left in Paris), the food was great, and it was such a relaxing weekend!  Be sure to check out all of our pictures from Barcelona here.

Switzerland: The Cities

We were lucky enough to spend 9 wonderful days in Switzerland the past week. I really didn't know much about Switzerland  before we left except that it had mountains, chocolate, and was super expensive.

All of these things are true, but there's so much more to Switzerland also. This post is about our city adventures (Luzern, Bern, and Lausanne/Lake Geneva). Be sure to check out the mountain Switzerland edition here.

Make sure to look at all our pictures from the cities here.

Switzerland: The Mountains

Gimmelwald & Berner Oberland
Ahhhhhh...the mountains. Our favorite part of the trip and now one of our favorite places in Europe that we've visited!  Be sure to check out the rest of our pictures from the mountains here.  And Switzerland, city edition here.
