Tuscany: Relaxation & Pasta Overload

The last two months have been crazy for Nick at work, with being off shore for 3 weeks and then coming back to Paris and working pretty much 7 days a week, 12 hours a day. We decided a vacation was in order! When flights to our first choice, Corsica, were ridiculously high, we went for the next obvious option...Italy. Yes, we've been there a lot. And no, it never gets old. With dirt cheap flights to Pisa, even just a few weeks in advance, we decided to rent a car and explore the Tuscany region.

Hiking the Dolomites

We just returned from a long weekend trip, which has climbed to the top five of both of our lists for favorite trips to date. And yet, there's a part of me that doesn't want to rave too much about this trip. Why, you might ask? Well, aside for the stunning beauty which will be apparent below, this area is relatively undiscovered by the English-speaking world, and I kind of want to keep it that way. Although the Dolomites are in Italy, it feels more like Austria or Germany, and the area still retains a traditional feel, where German is the preferred language, and the dress and music is still traditional, and not for the sake of tourists.

Italia: Bologna, Ravenna, and Venice

Let's just start by saying how much I love the fact that you can buy last-minute tickets for less than $150 dollars for weekend trips to other countries.  How lucky I am to be able to tag along on Nick's work trips every once in a while!

Nick was in Italy for a week, but I flew in for a long weekend to spend some time enjoying one of my favorite countries, Italy!
